We were hired by a government agency to haul away
and clean up the bachelor suite of an extreme hoarder. Everyone was under the assumption that everything in the apartment
was garbage to be hauled to the dump. Once we began working we realized that there were thousands of tools (most still sealed
in their original packaging), mixed in with the rotting garbage and moldy clothes.
DeClutter.ca staff spent 3 days
sorting through the mess to find all the valuable tools and any other saveable items. We boxed up 2 pallets worth of tools
and proceeded to notify the government case worker.
I took it upon myself to contact Princess Auto, the
retailer who had sold this client all the tools. A HEARTFELT THANK YOU goes out to them for accepting thousands of tools,
taking days to sort and process and for the large refund cheque sent to the client.
The
opened boxes of tools were dropped off with a local auction house to be sold. Garbage was taken to the dump and the apartment
was cleaned and disinfected and made ready for the client's new furniture.
DeClutter.ca is not just about cleaning
up after someone. It's also about CARING and taking that one step further to please the client. In every project we undertake,
